Stanley Gene Osborne, age 82, of rural Hubbardston, MI passed away Wednesday, 
March 25, 2009 at St. Lawrence Hospice House in Lansing. He was born January 
20, 1927 in Matherton, MI to Frank and Iva (Fenn) Osborne. He married Frances 
Newell on May 28, 1949 at the Methodist Church in Matherton. 

Stanley graduated from Maple Rapids High School. He served his country in the 
U.S. Army from 1945 to 1947. He worked for many years as a welder for General 
Motors in Lansing. He was a member of the Tuscan Masonic Lodge 178 and the 
American Legion Post 182 in Hubbardston. He loved horseback riding, and was a 
member of the Michigan Trail Riders Association since 1970. He also enjoyed 
dancing and making maple syrup. 

Surviving are two sons, Michael (Mary) Osborne of Cedar Springs, MI, Gary 
Osborne of Muir; one daughter, Patricia (Tom) Dixon of Marietta, GA; eight 
grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and one sister, Betty (Bill) Buchanan 
of Lake Havasa City, AZ. 
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Frances on January 25, 
2002; three brothers and two sisters. 

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 28, 2009 at 11:00am at the Lux 
and Schepp Funeral Home in Carson City, with Pastor Ried Martin officiating. 
Visitation will be held Friday, March 27th, from 2-4 and 6-8pm at the funeral 
home. Interment will be in East Plains Cemetery, Matherton. In lieu of 
flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Michigan Trail Riders Youth 
Fund.
