Hasting's Reminder - Saturday June 3, 2023

Charles Frederick Ost

Charles Frederick Ost, age 92, of Lake Odessa,MI passed away peacefully on 
Monday, May 29, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Fred was born on March 28, 1931 to Francis (Phil) and Martha(Betty) Ost in 
Pottsville, PA. In 1953 he graduated from Penn State with a degree in Animal 
Husbandry.In 1954 he married the love of his life Dolores Elliott. For 68 
wonderful years they farmed and raised a family.Fred worked for various dairy 
farms before buying the farm on Brown Road in 1964. He also retired from GM, 
collected toy trains mostly Lionel's and was a member of TCA. He was an acid 
sports fan enjoying Penn State football and the Detroit Tigers.

Having his family around him for meals and spending holidays together brought 
him much joy.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Dolores; children, Charles Kenneth, 
Tammie (Tim) Zook, Charlotte (Rick) France, Margaret (Steve) Sabo, Betty(Mike) 
Goodemoot; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; siblings, Karl Ost and 
Sally Ely, along with many nieces and nephews.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter and sister, Jane 
Harrington.

According to his wishes cremation has taken place and a Celebration of his Life 
is planned for Saturday, June 10, 2023, 11 a.m. at Lake Odessa Grace Brethren 
Church with a luncheon following.

Donations in lieu of flowers can be given to St.Jude's or Barry County Hospice.
