Ostrander, 24, died early Monday morning at the Ionia Community hospital following an automobile accident on the corner of North Jackson and East Lincoln avenue. She was taken to the hospital and did not regain consciousness. She died at about 3:30a.m. Born November 11, 1916, in Ionia township, she had lived in this community all her life. She was graduated from the Ionia high school in 1935. She was the daughter of George and Maude E. Ostrander. She was a member of the First Baptist church and taught a class in the primary Sunday school. Surviving are the parents, and one sister, Mrs. Fred Smith, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Miss Ostrander’s fiancé, John Brown, of Grand Rapids, also survives. The accident occurred as Miss Ostrander and the others in the party were returning from taking Mr. Brown to the Ionia station to catch his train for Grand Rapids. The funeral arrangements will be completed following the arrival of her sister, Mrs. Smith, from Milwaukee. Subsequent Publication: Tuesday, December 17, 1940 Funeral services for Miss Frances Ostrander, who died in the Ionia hospital a few hours after an automobile accident at Jackson street and Lincoln avenue Sunday night, will be held Thursday at 2 o’clock at the Baptist church. Rev. F. J. Fitch of Potterville, assisted by Rev. George Woolcock, pastor of the Baptist church, will be the officiating ministers. Interment will be at Highland Park cemetery. The body will repose at the Stone funeral home until 10 a.m. Wednesday when it will be taken to the home of the parents. It will also repose at the church Thursday from 1 to 2 o’clock.
