In the absence of pastor Rev. C.N. Stormes, Rev. Leon Manning of the Methodist church officiated. The deceased was a resident of Woodland many years and later of Battle Creek until she came to the home of her daughter at Lake Odessa. She was a member of a family of strong Christian principles and filial relationships. Obituary Mrs. Pollie Ann Bower Otto, daughter of Henry and Anna Bower, was born July 26, 1854 in Thamesville, Ont., and died April 30, 1938, aged 83 years, nine months and four days. Her parents removed to Michigan when she was four months of age. She was married to Edgar F. Otto of Woodland, October 17, 1875, removing to Battle Creek four years later where Mr. Otto died January 19, 1930, Mrs. Otto residing there until the last two years, since which time she has made her home with her daughter. She was a member of the First Presbyterian church of Battle Creek. She is survived by one daughter Mrs. Florence L. Bouton, and one son Wayne K. Otto of Chicago, sports editor of the Chicago Harold and Examiner; one sister, Mrs. Mary L. Barkdull, and one brother John Bower, both of Lake Odessa; one brother Samuel having died in California several years ago, and many nieces, nephews and cousins, one of whom, Mrs. Pollie Haskius of Saranac, is 90 years old. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the United Brethren church, Rev. Leon Winslow Manning officiating. Music was furnished by Mrs. Homer Bartlett, Mrs. Lulu Moore and Mrs. William L. George. Many friends and relatives from Battle Creek, Lansing, Charlotte, Jackson, Ypsilanti and Chicago attended the funeral.
