Dec. 20, 1930 FALL FROM A TREE FATAL FOR AGED MAN David Otto, 72, Succumbs to Injuries Sustained Thursday While Cutting Wood on Fargo Street. Pneumonia that followed injuries sustained when he fell from a tree Thursday resulted in the death of David Otto, 649 Rich street, Friday evening. Funeral services will be conducted from the home Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock by Dr. Paul L.Stewart. Interment will be made in Tuttle cemetery. Mr. Otto was born in Odessa township 72 years ago and had lived all his life in Ionia county and 42 years in this city. When he came to Ionia, then a village, he cleared the site of oak undergrowth on which he erected his home. He and Mrs. Otto, who with a daughter, Mrs. Nona Williams, survive him, celebrated their golden wedding anniversary Nov. 25. A brother John, of Grand Rapids, also survives. He was employed for years by the railroads of Ionia, having worked for both the Pere- Marquette and Grand Trunk. His life seemed to have been one that involved a chain of accidents. in 1928 while a school janitor, he broke his leg; he was in the Salem railroad wreck, then the accident that resulted in his death. Mrs. Otto also fell from the barn a few years ago and broke her leg. He was a member of the oddFellow lodge and the Church of Christ.
