Taylor, who died in 1881 at the age of 39 years. Mr. Overly enlisted in 1862 and served in the civil war-three years. A young son dying while husband and father was serving his country. Soon after the war the family moved to Michigan locating in Sunfield. After a residence there of ten years they moved to Sebewa where they resided about twenty years. Since that time Mr.Overly has lived with his children either in Indiana or Lake Odessa. Mr.Overly was a shoemaker by trade, making as high as 106 pairs of boots in a season for one dealer. For a long time the deceased had been in poor health and being confident that he could not live long he decided to make a visit to his daughter in Indiana where he went Monday and died the following Thursday August 13, aged 72 years. The body was bought to his daughter's Mrs.Ada Cramer's on Friday and the funeral was held at the U.B.church Sunday conducted by Rev.I Mourer. Mr Overly was a member of the Sebewa M.E.Church. He was one of five brothers who were in the war, all returned, not one received a wound and all are now dead, a coincidence worthy of note. He was the father of nine children, five of whom survive him, four dying in childhood. The following are the children according to age; Charles W.Overly Jr., Mrs.Ida Herrington, Mrs.Ada Cramer, Mrs.Estella Dunckley of Indiana and William A.Overly of Detroit.
