Ionia Sentinel Standard, 5 Feb 1979

Gilbert G. Owen, 75, of 285 Cedar Lake Drive, Route 2, Stanton died Friday at the
Sheridan hospital.  He was October 6, 1903 in Montcalm County, the son of Frank
Gilbert and Maude Reynolds.  

He is survived by his wife, Vernie of Stanton; seven sons, Jack and [unreadable] of
Portland; Gerald of Sunfield; James of Tennessee; Douglas and Owen of Lansing and
Wendall; two daughters, Mrs. Mary Dexter of Charlotte and Mrs. Linda Fancett of
Fenwick; 26 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. 

Also surviving are three brothers, Burton Gilbert of Sunfield; Leo and Leonard of
Saranac.  Also surviving are six sisters, Mrs. Bonnie Ward of Lake Odessa; Mrs.
Dorothy Jackson of Lake Odessa; Mrs. Marie Smith of Ionia; Mrs. Ella Mae Dye of
Ionia; Mrs. Emma Jean Stanton of Ionia and Mrs. Mildred Edmonds of Belding.

Funeral services were today (Monday) at 2 p.m. at Hull Memorial chapel.  Rev. Ralph
Barton of the Temple Baptist church officiated.  Burial was in Muir cemetery.
