Died, in this city, on Thursday, August 12, after a long illness, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Lo. Canfield, Sarah A. Owen, having reached the ripe old age of 78 years, 5 months and eighteen days. Mrs. Owen was born in the village of Lima, N.Y., April 24, 1830. When eighteen years of age she was married to Anthony Brown. To them five children were born, four of whom still survive her, Alonzo A. Brown and Dollie A. James, of Chesaning, Cornelia J. Canfield, of Belding, and Laura D. Cole, of Fenwick. Mr. Brown passed away in 1864, and she remained a widow until 1881, when she was married to William B. Owen, with whom she lived until 1906, at which time he died at Fenwick. Since his death Mrs. Owen has made her home with her children. The funeral was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lo. Canfield, last Sunday, and the remains were laid to rest in the old cemetery by the side of Mr. Owen. Rev. O.W. Winter conducted the services, speaking comforting words to the sorrowing friends. Those present from out of the city were Mr. and Mrs. Thomas James, Mrs. Guy Howell and Mrs. Frank Stevens and Alonzo Brown, of Chesaning; Mrs. David Dennis, of Grand Blanc; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Cole, of Fenwick, and Mr. and Mrs. Nye Cole, of Shiloh.
