Zelma Lee Owens, 66, of Mabank, Texas, passed away unexpectedly August 10, 
2003 at Spectrum Health—Butterworth Campus in Grand Rapids.  Although her 
sudden death leaves her family grieving, they find comfort in knowing that 
others will benefit from her donation to the Gift of Life Program.

Zelma was born November 11, 1936, the daughter of Lee and Nellie (Baird) 
Taylor.  She was married on August 8, 1957 in Dallas, Texas to Jim Owens, and 
he survives along with their children; Brenda and Garry Ritter of Mabank, 
Texas; Dan and Becky Owens of Krum, Texas; and her daughter-in-law Lori Wiley 
of Belding.  Zelma is also survived by her grandchildren Jason Wiley, Mark 
Wright, Amanda Robertson, Elizabeth Manning, Aaron Robertson, Stephanie Beard, 
Jessica Owens; ten great-grandchildren; her brother and his wife Bill and 
Barbara Taylor of Texas; her brothers-in-law Jack Tidwell of Texas, Dan and 
Terri Owens of Texas and her sister-in-law Doris Todd of Nevada.  She was 
preceded in death by her parents, her sister Lanelle Tidwell, and her son Mike 
Wiley.

Memorial services for Zelma will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Johnson-Feuerstein 
Funeral Home, Belding with Pastor Ken Harger of Shiloh Community Church 
officiating.  Memorial contributions may be made to the children’s section of 
the Alvah N. Belding Library or the American Heart Association.  Services in 
Texas will be held 2 p.m. on Wednesday, August 20 at Aley United Methodist 
Church in Seven Points on Highway 85.
