Mrs. Owens was the wife of Fred Owens, former Ionia city electrician and had lived on Lafayette street here for many years until recently. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jefferson Huggins and was born on a farm near Union City, October 23, 1872. She was married to Fred Owens when 19 years old. They had one son, Gordon, who died in a United States army camp, October 19, 1918, at Omaha, only two weeks before he was to return home. Mrs. Owens attended the Baptist church of Ionia and was an active worker in her Sunday school class, the Friendly Workers, and also in the Dorcas society. She was a member of the Ionia Eastern Star chapter for more than 20 years. She is survived by her husband and three sisters, Mrs. H. J. Montgomery, Carson City; Mrs. H. E. Phelps, of Ionia, and Mrs. M. P. Lenhard, of Clarksville. Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 29 from the home at 2:30 o'clock. Rev. E. E, Branch, of Grand Rapids, will officiate and interment will be at Highland Park cemetery.
