Mr. Padgett was taken ill a week ago last Thursday. Death was caused by a stroke and heart disease. Mr. Padgett had resided on the same farm in North Plains Township for 59 years coming there from Ohio to live when he was nine years of age. Mr. Padgett was a member of the Modern Woodman. Mrs. Padgett died in 1922. He is survived by two daughters. Mrs. Chester Barr, who lives on the old farm in North Plains Township and Mrs. Raymond Fisher of Alma. He is survived by one brother, William Padgett, who lives north of Ionia and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Strong of Empire, Cal., and Mrs. Emily Adams of Orleans. The funeral service was held from the residence Sunday afternoon at 5:30 and from the North Plains Union church at 2 o’clock. Rev. George Johnson, of Muir, officiated at the service. The bearers were John Tooker, Dwight Scott, Herbert Dennis, Frank Greenhoe, Charles Fletcher and Merton Strachan. Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Dawson of Ann Arbor came to attend the service.
