Wellington C. Page is Dead. A few days ago he suffered what was thought to be a relapse of his recent illness, and for the 36 hours prior to his death, his demise was a matter of the moment. He passed away quietly at about 5:30 this Friday morning. No man in Ionia county, perhaps, had a wider acquaintance in the county than Mr. Page. For a quarter century past, it has been his privilege to meet daily, residents of nearly every corner of the county, and once an acquaintance, it was not an easy matter to forget the man. Arrangements for the funeral are not as yet completed, but the ceremonies will doubtless take place on Sunday. ------------ Reverential Regard Largely Attended Ceremonies Over The Remains of W. C. Page. A large attendance of friends congregated to pay respectful homage to a departed soul, is a positive indication of the measure of esteem which was wont to attend the deceased. The funeral ceremonies over the remains of Wellington C. Page, at the M.E. church on Sunday last, was very largely attended. The floral tributes from friends were numerous and beautiful. Rev. A.M. Gould selected for his text from I Corinthians, the passage, “For now we see through a glass darkly; but then, face to face,” and paid a high tribute to the work of the deceased as a member and officer of the church society. Presiding Elder Moors assisted in the ceremonies. George D. and R. Lee Page, sons, J.D. Wilson and Daniel and Albert Heath, Palo, nephews, and Fred Pratt, Carson City, grandson, acted as pallbearers. A long funeral cortege followed the remains to Highland Park, the carriages containing a very large proportion of the early settlers. ------------ W.C. Page’s will was made June 26, 1888, and revokes all other wills. It is witnessed by John C. Blanchard and F.A. Stiven, and his widow, Mrs. Amarilla O. Page, is made sole executrix.
