Lyons Herald, 2 Sep 1920

Roy Paine, balloonist, was drowned in the big pond above the Commonwealth dam 
last week Wednesday when his parachute landed him in the deep water along the 
shore opposite and above the Electric Park, from which point he made the 
ascension for the pleasure of a K. of C. picnic.  The sheriff of Ionia county 
offered a reward of $25 for the finding of the body, and not until Sunday morning 
was the body recovered, and was found floating by John Mayworm.  The body was 
removed to Ionia and burial made in Highland Park cemetery, as no relatives of 
the man could be found.
