June 23, 2010 Wilma G.Painter Wilma G.Painter,89, of Greenville passed away at home on Monday, June 21, 2010. She was born in Chicago,Ill, on Jan.13, 1921, the daughter of Nels A. and Pearl C.Myers Peterson. After graduation from Ithaca high School, she was married to LaVern A.Painter in Hasting's on July 29, 1939. She was an integral member of the founding family of the Peterson Lewis Broadcasting Co., forming WPLB the first AM and FM radio station in Greenville For many years she commuted to work from Breckenridge to be at the station. After her husband's retirement, they moved to Greenville on the Flat River where she enjoyed her yard and gardening.She retired from WPLB in 1989. She was the most attentive grandmother and great-grandmother to her family.Her two sons learned a great work ethic and persistence from their parent's example. She was known to be fair to everyone, never showing any partiality. She is survived by her sons and families; Larry and Carol Painter of Greenville and Dan and Judy painter of Clifford Lake Stanton; her grandchildren; Debbie (Jim) Irish, Tracy (Steve) Fouchea, Pam (Jerry) Mann,Matthew (Talia)Painter and Kimberly (Jim) Foley; her great grandchildren;James,Brandi, Mike, Kayla, Skylar, Tori, Ava and Audrey; her brother Robert Lewis of Gowen; and nieces and nephews. Her husband LaVern preceded her in death on Nov. 15, 2001, and her brother Earl Peterson in 1971 and sister-in-law Barbara Peterson in 2009. Funeral services will be at 11 am Thursday, June 24, at Hurst Funeral Home with Pastor Randy Williams of Faith Baptist Church officiating.Burial will be in the family plot at Ridgelawn Cemetery, Breckenridge. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Heart Association.
