He was born Jan. 4, 1922, in Greenville, the son of Charles and Bertha VanHoose Palethorpe. He retired in 1984 from Gibson after 44 years. He was preceded in death by his wife Delores Rich Palethorpe, on April 26, 1995. He is survived by his children, Joel and Linda Palethorpe of Mecosta, Shannon and Bonnie Palethorpe of Sheridan, Rod and Tammy Palethorpe, Dana and Lisa Palethorpe, Scott and LeAnn Palethorpe, all of Orleans, Gloria and Chuck Rushford of Belding; 17 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers, Mary Jepson, J. C. Palethorpe, both of Cedar Springs, LeRoy Palethorpe of Greenville, Tom “Corky” Palethorpe of Belding; three sisters-in-law, Eva Edwards, Leah Palethorpe and Althea Ward. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Chuck Palethorpe. Private graveside services will be Friday in Rest Haven Memory Gardens. In keeping with his wishes no visitation will be held. Memorial contributions may be made to Ionia Area Hospice. Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Johnson Funeral Home, Belding.
