Palmer, 87, a former Ionian, died Wednesday, October 17 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Fred Biergans, of Eagle where he had been cared for since last January. He was formerly employed as a guard at the Michigan reformatory in Ionia. The son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Palmer of Sebewa, he lived in Portland 34 years and in Ionia 15 years. While in Ionia he owned the home on Dye street now occupied by Carl Seabrook. His wife died in April, 1951. Surviving him are the daughter, three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Mary Howard, of Cleveland. Funeral services will be conducted at 9 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick’s church in Portland with interment at 10:30 a.m. at Mt. Olivet cemetery in Ionia.
