Ann Gertrude Lewis was born December 15, 1840, in China township, Genesee county, New York, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. F. Lewis, who were among the early settlers in Lyons. When six years of age she came to Lyons with her parents, who two years later built the home in which she died, after spending practically 72 years of her life there. She was married December 25th, 1856, to David H. Palmer, who died October 27, 1873. To them were born three daughters and one son, Ely H. Palmer of Lima, Ohio, who is the only one surviving. Deceased had been a member of the local M.E. church for about fifty years. Besides a son, she is survived by two sisters and one brother, Chas. F. Lewis and Mary E. Wickham of Pentwater; and Mrs. Wm. E. Ambler of Cleveland, Ohio. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon from the M.E. church conducted by Rev. Chas. Nease. Interment in the Lyons cemetery.
