Ionia Daily Sentinel – 13 March 1912
Alfred S. Palmer, well known resident of Orleans, where he had lived for many 
years, died this morning at 6 o’clock at the age of 61 years.  Yesterday was 
his birthday anniversary.  Mr. Palmer was many years a farmer in Orleans, and 
also a merchant at the center.  On account of failing health he retired from 
business  about eleven years ago. Some time ago he suffered a stroke of 
paralysis, from which he was afflicted until the time of his death, which, 
however, was caused by heart failure.  Mr. Palmer was born in Michigan, and as 
a farmer and merchant has lived in Orleans for the last 40 years.  Besides his 
wife he is survived by two children, Miss Mabel palmer and John Palmer of 
Orleans.
