RICHARD DUANE PALMER 1947-2016
Richard Duane Palmer, age 69 of Ionia, passed away July 14, 2016 in Grand 
Rapids. He was born Jan. 1, 1947 in Ionia, Michigan the son of Harold and Nellie 
(Wise) Palmer. Richard married Charlene Harrison June 8, 1983 in traverse City, 
Michigan.

He retired from the Michigan Department of corrections as a Corrections Officer. 
He enjoyed working with special needs children after retirement.

Richard is survived by his loving wife of 33 years Charlene Palmer of Grand 
Rapids; children, Christina (Mike) Dolley of Wyoming, Kevin Hoopfer of San 
Diego, CA, Mark Palmer and Kelly Edwards of Palo, Jeff (Jill) Harrison Of 
Wyoming, Rob Palmer of Battle Creek and Jared (Morgan) Palmer of Lansing; 
brother, John (Merryann) Palmer of Mission, TX; sister, Erva (Charles) Asiala of 
Saginaw; sister-in-law, Holly  Palmer of Grand Rapid and 10 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Raymond.

A Celebration of Life will be held 1 p.m. Monday, July 18 at Zion Methodist 
church with Pastor Cliff Allen officiating. Visitation will be Monday 12 p.m. 
until time of service at the church. Arrangements by Lake Funeral Home of Ionia.
