Every effort has been made to discover his body but to no avail. Bruce G. Fales, local mortician and friend of the family, was in charge of the services which were held at the late home on E.Washington street, Ionia. The Masonic Order of this city, of which the deceased was a member, was in attendance and took part in the service, Rev.H.S. Ellis officiating. Mr.Palmer was the son of Mr.and Mrs.Alfred A.Palmer and was born January 13, 1884, on the old homestead of his grandfather, Joel Palmer, Orleans township. He attended the Orleans and Ionia Schools and graduated from Michigan State College in June, 1905. He lived his entire life in Ionia county with the exception of two years which he spent in South Dakota. He was united in marriage to Miss Irene Gleason September 18, 1909 at Grand Rapids. His life work had been connected with agriculture and for the past 13 years he had been associated with land banks, his work carrying him throughout Michigan and surrounding states. At the time of his tragic death he was connected with the Union Joint Stock Land Bank of Detroit. Surviving are his wife; a son, Alfred Joel Palmer; his mother, Nora E.Palmer; and two brothers, Clark A.and Robert G.Palmer, of Orleans township; an uncle, I Gaylord Clark, of Belding, and an aunt, Mrs. Alice Ross of Ionia. The entire community extends its sympathy to the bereaved family who for many years have been well known in Belding. A tragedy of this nature is most regrettable.
