Pant, 74, of Grand Rapids died at the Veterans Facility Aug. 1, 1997. He was born Nov. 1, 1922, the son of Adrian T. (Verda McIntyre) Pant in Grand Rapids. He was a life member and past exalted ruler of the Ionia Elks. He graduated from Saranac High School in 19440. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1940 and served in the 2nd Marine Division in the South Pacific during WWII. He went into the Reserves after WWII and returned to active duty during the Korean Conflict. He graduated from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. He worked for Chrysler Corp. as a plant engineer and consultant in Warren. After retirement he returned home to the Michigan Veterans Facility. He is survived by one son, Edward J. Pant Jr. of Norton Shores; four grandsons; four great-grandchildren; his mother, and a sister. He was preceded in death by his father, Adrian T. Pant; his stepfather and an infant daughter. Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Saranac Cemetery with Rev. Nat Gibbons officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
