The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Wednesday, September 23, 1964
Melvin Ray Pardee, 82, died Tuesday at Blodgett Memorial hospital where he had 
been a patient 10 days.  A former resident of East Grand River avenue in 
Portland, Mr. Pardee had made his home the past five years at Clark Memorial 
home in Grand Rapids.    He was born July 4, 1882 in New York state and lived 
in Portland for many years.  He was a farmer and shop employee.  

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Mildred Peabody of Lansing; one grandchild and 
one great-grandchild.

Funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Neller funeral home with the Rev. Robert 
Treet of Portland Methodist church officiating and interment at Portland 
cemetery.
