The deceased was 40 years of age, and had lived in Ionia since 1867. He was a member of the Odd Fellows, of the Masonic order and of the M. E. church. He served three months in the First Michigan enlisted in 1861, and three years in the 9th cavalry. He was also one of the original Ionia light guard, being the fourth to answer the long roll call, following Willie G. Kidd, W. S. O'Bryon and Sam'l Davie. There were few men better liked or respected. The funeral will be held on Sunday afternoon at two o'clock from the M. E. church under the charge of the Odd Fellows. He leaves a wife and three children.
