Parks was born in Pewamo, Michigan July 8, 1895. He was one of six brothers and five sisters. His mother passed away 19 years ago and his father three years ago. One brother and three sisters survive. Alonzo resided inNew York state two years and was a resident of this community for many years. He was in service in the Untied States army for 16 months during the first World War and was a member of the Walter T. Roach Post No. 182 of the American Legion in Hubbardston. He was also a member of the K of P. Lodge and Eagles lodge in Cheyenne, Wyoming, where his last years were spent, and of the Firemen’s Local No. 279 and Firefighters Association of Cheyenne. For the past four years he has been in failing health and died in the Veteran’s hospital in Cheyenne, Thursday morning, September 18. Funeral services were held from the Methodist church in Hubbardston, Monday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock, Rev. W. Dale Robinson officiated. Lon Parks, son of the late George Parks, passed away at a Cheyenne hospital late last week. The body was brought here for burial arriving Sunday afternoon and taken to the home of his sister, Mrs. Arbrustmacher at Carson City. At 2:30 p.m. Monday the funeral services were held at the Hubbardston Methodist church and burial in the family lot at East Plains cemetery. Burial services were under the auspices of the American Legion. He is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Charlotte Bates of Cheyenne, Wyoming; Mrs. Eleanor Finn of Lansing, Mrs. Emily Armbrustmacher, Carson City; one brother, Ernest, Carson City; and his step-mother, Mrs. George Parks, Lansing. Mr. Parks was a member of the Cheyenne Fire Department for several years. For the last year and a half he had been in hill health during that time he had several operations, death resulting from one of them. Three years ago at this time Mr. Parks spent several weeks here with his father who was very ill. He had returned to Cheyenne before his father’s death but came back for the funeral. That visit will be remembered by all of his old friends.
