Patrick, 41, World war veteran, who died Friday afternoon were held from the Berlin township home Monday at 10:30 o’clock with Rev. John Youngs of Ionia officiating. Pallbearers were relatives and included Arthur Rumbaugh, William Carlyle, Sam Lory, Gerald Robinson, Sidney Calkins and Percy Colley. The casket was draped with the American flag. Interment was at the family lot at Balcom cemetery. Flowers were in charge of Miss Ardis Rumbaugh, Lansing, and W. E. Armstead, of Cadillac. Friends and relatives from away were Mr. and Mrs. S. J. Lory, and daughter, Gary, Ind.; Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Carlyle, Plainwell; Mr. and Mrs. William Harwood, Saranac; Mr. and Mrs. Sherman Keefer, of Lyons; Mr. and Mrs. Albert Peterson, Traverse City; Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Galloway, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Galloway, and Miss Minnie Galloway of Portland; Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Smith of Stanton, and Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Robinson, Ronald. Mr. Patrick was one of the original members of Company D, 126th infantry, 32nd division of the U.S. army during the World war, and saw two and one-half years of service in France. He enlisted in the local national guard unit when war broke out in Europe in 1914, and served on the Mexican border. He was mustered into the service of his country while in Texas, and was immediately sent to France with the first American troops. He was born on the farm in Berlin township, where he died, and was a graduate of the Ionia high school.
