Patrick, 72, of 322 Baldie, died late Sunday evening at Ionia Memorial hospital after being a patient the past five weeks. He was born in Berlin township August 31, 1903, the son of Daniel and Lylia Adgate Patrick. He attended the Ionia high school and Ferris Institute at Big Rapids. March 5, 1925 he was married to Hazel Erridge and they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in March of 1975. He had worked on a farm with his father. He began work for the State of Michigan as a produce and food inspector in 1934 and held that position 22 years, before retiring in 1956. He then worked on plant protection 12 years at the Ionia Manufacturing Company and A. O. Smith in Ionia, retiring in 1968. He had worked for Orin Stone and Dale Kauffman part time, assisting at the Stone-Kauffman funeral home 40 years until the business was sold in 1972. He was a member of the First Christina church, a life member of the Ionia Moose lodge and had been president of the Balcom cemetery association three years. Survivors include his wife, Hazel, two sons, Keith and Dan of Ionia; ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren; brother, Russell Patrick of rural Orleans, and sister, Mrs. Amos Welch of rural Saranac. The funeral will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Leddick funeral home. Rev. Roger Gifford of First Christian church will officiate and interment will be at the Balcom cemetery. A memorial for the Ionia county unit of the American Cancer society has been established. Family members will be at the funeral home Monday and Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. Subsequent Publication: Thursday, September 18, 1975 Services for Homer A. Patrick who died September 14 were held Wednesday at 2 p.m. with Rev. Roger Gifford of First Christian church officiating. Burial was in Balcom cemetery. Bearers were Clinton Sprague, Bill Erridge, James Patrick, John Erridge, Max Wiles and George Whitelock. Following graveside ceremonies, a lunch was prepared and served by ladies of the church in the basement dining facility.
