Patterson, 67, who died Saturday night at 612 Benton Court after a long illness. Preliminary services were held at the home of Mrs. Nettie Miner, of Bloomer Center, a sister-in-law. Rev. W. F. Kendrick officiated. Interment was in the cemetery adjoining the church. Mrs. Patterson, who was born in Livingston county, New York, came to Ionia vicinity with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Yates, at the age of two. They located on a farm two miles north of the city on the State road. Mrs. Patterson was married on September 26, 1883 to James A. Patterson. The ceremony took place in Bloomer township and residence was continued in that vicinity until eight years ago. She was a member of the Bloomer Methodist Episcopal church and a charter member of the ladies aid society, an auxiliary to the same church. For 50 years she was a member of the grange and several years served the Bloomer Center grange as secretary and the Butternut grange as master. Surviving is the husband and the half sister. Mrs. and Mrs. Charles Yates, of Watervilet, cousins of Mrs. Patterson, came to Ionia Saturday and accompanied Mr. Patterson to Bloomer Center Monday afternoon when the casket was removed to the home of the half-sister.
