Bertrand “Bert” L. Patterson Jr., 44, Ionia, passed away Saturday, May 10, 1997.
 He was born Aug. 26, 1952, in Carson City, the son of Bertrand L. Sr. and Lois
Martin Patterson.  

He graduated from Carson City-Crystal High School in 1970.  He worked as a
corrections officer at the Ionia Temporary Facility for eight years.  He married
the former Hanna Guernsey on Oct. 12, 1991.

He is survived by his wife, Hanna; two stepdaughters, Heidi and Stacey; one
stepson, James; his father, Bertrand L. Patterson Sr. of Crystal; four brothers
and two sisters-in-law, Robert and Carol Patterson of Muir, Melvin Patterson of
Stanton, Darrell Patterson of Colorado, Delbert and Judy Patterson of Crystal;
two sisters and one brother-in-law, Kristine and Mark Sheets of Florida, Diane
Stoneburner of Lakeview; and his father-in-law, Robert Guernsey of Ionia.  He
was preceded in death by his mother, Lois Patterson, on Sept. 30, 1993.

Funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Shiloh Community Church, with the
Rev. Kenneth Harger officiating.  Graveside services will be Friday at 2 p.m. in
Spencer Cemetery, Crystal.  Visitation will be Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9
p.m. at the Cook Funeral Home, 220 Rich St., Ionia.  Memorial contributions may
be made to the wishes of the Patterson family in care of the funeral home.
