Sept 27, 2017 KEITH WILLIAM PATTERSON 1935-2017 Keith William Patterson, aged 82, passed away Sept. 24, 2017, in his home in Ionia, with his family by his side. Keith was born March 4, 1935, in Ionia, MI. the son of Bessie and William T. Patterson. Keith attended Ionia High School, Class of 1953 and then Western Michigan University where he graduated in 1957 with a degree in drafting and Engineering. He went on to work as a draftsman for TRW in 1957 and also married his high school sweetheart, Nola Smith (Patterson) that same year. Keith was drafted to the armed forces in 1958, he and Nola moved to El Paso, Texas where they lived for 2 years. They then moved back to Ionia, where Keith returned to work at TRW in Portland where he eventually retired after 43 years. He was an active member of the Travelers Protective Association for 60 years. He served as National President of TPA, Post 1 TPA, Secretary Treasurer and recently Secretary- Treasurer, emeritus. Keith was an elder of Ionia Presbyterian Church and an active member of many committees until recently. His interests included being with family, hunting and fishing, collecting sports cards, coins and Big Little books. He was a great bridge player. He also loved spending time at the family cabin in Northern Michigan. Keith is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife, Nola Smith Patterson. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on June 29, 2017. Also surviving are his children, Craig Robert (Michaelean) Patterson, Tim Keith (Brenda) Patterson, Vicki Lynn (Rodney) Peiffer; grandchildren, Michelle (Jerry) Masson, Michael (Laura) Peiffer, Jessica Patterson, William Patterson, Nicholas Patterson; and several great grandchildren along with many cousins. He was precede in death by his parents. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Sept 27, at 11 a.m at the First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Chris Dorn officiating and Reverend Mark Gerdes assisting. Interment Tuttle Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at Lake Funeral Home in Ionia. Those wishing may make memorial contributions to First Presbyterian church, T.P.A.
