Paulson, Aged 16 years and the eldest son of a family of eight children of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Paulson, when death came to the young man at the hospital at Greenville Sunday. The boy, who was a member of the sophomore class in the Belding high school, was riding his motorcycle, traveling east on M-44, Thursday evening when he collided with a car driven by Mrs. Lucy Gardner, long time resident of Smyrna, who was traveling east on M-44 and as she went to make a left-hand turn off M-44, north onto a road a mile west of Cooks Corners. The impact of the motorcycle and the car was so severe that it ripped the left running board and the front fender off the car which Mrs. Gardner was driving. The Paulson family home is but a short distance west of where the fatal accident took place. The boy was rushed to the hospital at Greenville, in an unconscious condition and was treated there for the head and internal injuries which it was found he had received in the crash. Very little hope was held for his recovery at any time following the accident. Surviving are the parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Paulson, four brothers Norman, Donald, Robert and Gerald, and three sisters, Irene, Halia? and Mary, all at home. 100 high school students attended the services in a body and pallbearers chosen from among them were Richard Ravell, Kale Lindsey, Bert Lindsey, Jack Jewell, Martin Juhl and James McGuire. Funeral services in charge of the Fitzjohn Funeral Home, were held Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 and at 2 o’clock, with Rev. Paul Gutknecht officiating at Holy Cross Lutheran church, High street. Burial was in Otisco cemetery west of the city.
