Emma E. Paulus Passes Away

Mrs. Emma E. Paulus, age 97, of 2601 E. Brown Road, passed away Wednesday 
morning, Aug. 3 at her home.

She was born in Ashtabula, Ohio, March 28, 1890, the daughter of Samuel and 
Parrie (Keeler) Leavens and lived in Coffee Country, Kansas until moving to 
Carlton Township at the age of 14. Mrs. Paulus attended the Carlton Center 
school. 

In February of 1908 she married Charles Hecht of Carlton Township, who passed 
away in March of 1922. In November of 1929 she married Charles Paulus of Alto. 
He preceded her in death in August of 1948. She had lived in her farm  home 
since 1930 and had been in ill health for sixteen months.

Mrs. Paulus is survived by one son, Theron Hecht of Lake Odessa; six 
grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. 

Funeral services were held Friday, August 5 at the Leonard-Osgood Funeral Home 
in Hastings. Rev. Harvey G. Beach officiated with interment in Fuller Cemetery.
