Peabody, 83, died November 4, 2007 in a Hospice Care Center. Mr. Peabody was born in 1923 in Lansing, the son of Clarence S. and Bessie (Smith) Peabody. During WWII he served with the Army Air Corps, 8th Air Force, 2nd Air Division, 93rd Bomb Group flying 35 missions. He was awarded the EAME Ribbon with two Bronze Stars and the Air Medal with five Oak Leaf Clusters. He lived in the Portland area until 1985 when he retired from T.R.W. in Portland and moved to Lillian, AL. From 1985 to 2006 he served as a volunteer and later worked at the Pensacola Athletic Center. He also maintained a beautiful yard and garden and enjoyed watching things grow and being outdoors. He is survived by his wife, Jeanne LaBarge Peabody; daughter, Suzanne (John) Holm of Pensacola, Fla.; son, Charles (Debra Young) Peabody of McDonough, Ga.; three grandchildren; brothers, Gerald and Robert Peabody, both of Portland; sister, Marion (Marion) Pieczewski of Dunedin, Fla. The family would like to give a special “Thank you” to Covenant Hospice for their compassionate care. Inurnment services took place Nov. 23 at Barrancas National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Lawrence’s memory to Covenant Hospice, 5041 N. 12th Ave., Pensacola, FL 32504. Oak Lawn Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
