James was born in Mulliken, on jan.18, 1935 the son of Carl and Marguerite Crane Peabody.James married Norma Morofsky on July 25, 1959 in Lake Odessa. He loved to fish, play cards, spend time with friends and family. James proudly served our country for three and a half years in the U.S. Navy, serving during the Korean War. He later retired from Oldsmobile in Lansing and was a past member of the United Auto Worker's Union. James is loved and survived by his wife Norma and their children; Marth and Jim Hay of Muir, Sarah Husman of Muir, Richard and Julie Peabody of Ionia. Beth and Tyson Cowles of Lansing and daughter-in-law Lisa Peabody of Lyons, grandchildren; Michael, Randy, Lacey , Jerrid, Davin, Acacia, Masie, Alex, Jimmy, Kayla, Sydney, Billy, Austin and Kendra, two great-grandchildren, brother and sister; Martha Loveland of San Jose, Calif., Marilyn and Ron Krupp of Grand Ledge, his sister-in-law June Peabody of Lansing and many special friends. He was preceded by his parents, son Bill, daughter Denise, brother Fred and three sisters Norma,June and Ruth. The family would like to thank Ionia Area Hospice for all the special care they gave James. Funeral services will be 1 pm Monday at Lyons-Muir Church on Olmstead Road,Muir with Pastor John Prominski officiating.Committal Prayers will follow at North Plains Cemetery.Visitation will be Sunday at the Lyons-Muir Church from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm. Memorials may be given to Ionia Area Hospice. Funeral care has been entrusted to Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding.
