Walter Elton Peacock, 70, formerly of Lake Odessa, died Thursday at Kent 
Community Hospital.  The son of Samuel and Eunice Lindley Peacock, he was born 
Sept. 4, 1911 in Sebewa Township.  He lived in Lake Odessa for several years 
before moving to Grand Rapids.  He married Clarissa Begerow, also of Lake 
Odessa.

He is survived by his wife, Clarissa; his daughter, Mrs. Robert F. (Diane) 
Batt, of Wyoming, Mich.; a sister, Mrs. Fred (Leona) Vanzee of St. Petersburg, 
Fla.; grandchildren, Robert of E. Lansing, Walter of Lowell, Claire, John, 
James and Elisabeth of Wyoming; and many nieces and nephews of the Grand 
Rapids and Lake Odessa area.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Leander and Elwood of Lake Odessa 
and Albert of Ionia, and a sister, Luella of Montana.

Services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at the O’Brien-Gerst Funeral Home, 
3960 Cascade Road, SE at the I-96 Expressway.  The Rev. Fred Krause of 
Immanuel Lutheran Church will officiate.  Burial will be in Chapel Hill 
Memorial Garden.  Memorials may be made to the Kent County Cancer Fund.
