At the age of fifteen she came with her parents to Michigan, they having bought the place which was afterwards, her home. On the fourth day of January 1868, she was united in marriage to Benjamin Calvin Peacock, whose former home was in Iowa. Together they cleared the land which afterward made one of the most productive farms in the county. To this union were born nine children, two having died in infancy. Those living are Dr. Thos. L. Peacock of Lansing, Jesse W. Peacock, Barryton, Harlan J. Peacock and Mrs. Edgar Johnson, Lyons, Mrs. C.R. Waring, Lake Odessa, Mrs. Victor Wilson, Portland and Idelphia A. Peacock still at home. At the age of seventeen she was baptized and united with the Christian church, which was then organized of West Sebewa. She was a most earnest Christian worker, having helped to build up Sunday schools at different places. She became a charter member of the Church of Christ, which was later built on their farm. She was a woman of highest ideals and noblest purpose. Her unselfish nature was apparent to everyone who knew her. She was always thinking of the welfare of happiness of others. She was a kind and loving mother, always denying herself any pleasure or anything which she thought would in any way please or benefit her children and was most willing to bear any sorrow or burden if it could be lifted from another's shoulders. In the winter of 1921 she suffered a long serious illness at the home of her daughter, at which time her life was dispaired of. At the time her most earnest prayer was that she might live to get to her own home; that when the final summon came she might be there. Since she has been in delicate health, although able to be around her home performing duties. Sunday evening she suffered an attack of neuralgia of the heart. The attack was of short duration. Monday she appeared quite herself. Tuesday evening the affliction returned in a more serious form and although medical help was summoned immediately she suddenly and unexpectedly called from this life to that of the world beyond to be at rest with the Great Redeemer. The funeral service was very largely attended from the Christian church Sunday morning at ten o'clock, the Rev. Robert Thompson officiating. He spoke tenderly of the sweet Christian life just ended and in a most beautiful way gave touching evidence of his knowledge of her character. The presence of hundreds of friends together with the many lovely floral offerings spoke of the wide circle of loving tribute that was hers in life. Interment was made in lakeside cemetery at Lake Odessa. "Blessed are the dead that die in the Lord; That they may rest from their labors; and their works do follow them."
