Peake, 70, of Omaha, Neb., formerly of Portland, died Jan. 9, 2000. He was born in Danby Township March 26, 1929, the son of Guy and Pearl (Pryer) Peake. Mr. Peake was valedictorian of Portland High School in 1945, graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University, and received his master’s degree from the University of Oklahoma. He was an avid bridge player and enjoyed taking walks. Surviving are brothers, Forrest “Bud” (Eleanor) Peake and Wilbur (Mary) Peake, both of Portland; sister, Margy (John) Moyer of Portland; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and stepmother Maude B. Peake. Services were conducted Jan. 15 by Rev. Scott K. Otis of Portland Untied Methodist Church at the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, Portland. Interment followed at Danby Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Portland Foundation for Public Education.
