Peake, 76, died at St. Lawrence hospital in Lansing Tuesday evening. He was born in Danby township February 22, 1893, and was a lifelong farmer of Portland and Danby townships. He was a World War I veteran and charter member of Dale E. Hyland post of American Legion. A life member of Portland lodge 31 F&AM, he also belonged to Danby grange. Besides his wife, Maude, he leaves three sons, William H. and Forrest W. of Portland and Lynn A. Peake of Omaha, Neb; a daughter, Mrs. Margy Moyer of Portland; two stepsons, Jack E. Starr of LaGrange, Ill., Dr. Charles E. Starr of Desert Hot Springs, Calif.; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Mary E. Sewell of Birmingham; 17 grandchildren; one brother, Hugh Peake of the Masonic home in Alma; three sisters, Mrs. Della Sykes and Mrs. Nora Lindsey of Portland and Mrs. Grace Lindsey of Masonic home in Alma. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 2 pm at Neller funeral home in Portland. Rev. Richard Bayles of Portland Congregational church will officiate. Interment will be at Danby cemetery.
