The Ionia Daily Sentinel, Saturday, January 22, 1949
Double funeral services were conducted Friday afternoon for Christopher Pearce 
who died Tuesday at his home on Maple street and for his grandchild, Charles 
Shinabarger who died shortly after birth Friday morning at 4 o’clock at the 
Ionia hospital.  The services were conducted by Dr. Paul Stewart at Myers 
funeral home with interment in Balcom cemetery.

Bearers were Donald Sharp, Ralph Nelson, Orin Shattuck and Donald Shattuck.  
Out of town persons attending the funerals were Mr. and Mrs. George Watson, 
Ernest Kipp, Mrs. Fay Kipp, Mrs. Elva Kipp and Mrs. Leta McClung of Marion, 
Mr. and Mrs. Howard Richard and Miss Cordelia Kipp of Morley; Mr. and Mrs. 
Clarence Cottrell, Mr. and Mrs. Chan Olger, Mr. and Mrs. Chester Olger, and 
Mr. and Mrs. Rich of Belding.

Charles Shinabarger, son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Shinabarger of Mt. Pleasant 
was born at the Ionia hospital Friday morning after his mother had come to 
Ionia to attend the funeral of her father.
