Peck was born in Naples, Ontario County, New York, June 26, 1855. He was married to Miss Anna Burkey, February 22, 1882, and moved to Belding, Michigan, April, 1890. Three children were born to them, Gertrude M., T. Will and Bertha M. The wife and mother was called to the better land, September 15, 1895. On July 8, 1903, he was united in marriage to Miss Margaret Stevens who with the three children survive him, also two sisters Mrs. Naomi Barker of Williamsburg and Mrs. Lydia Dusenbury of Grand Rapids. He peacefully passed from this life after an illness of two hours, from his home, 208 West Liberty street, March 27, 1913, and funeral services were held at the residence, March 29 and interment made in Otisco Cemetery. The floral tributes were profuse and beautiful. Miss Ronan sweetly sang, “Still still with Thee, when Purple Morning Breaketh” and a metrical composition of the 91 Psalm. Rev. G.W. Maxwell had charge of the service. He spoke from the 121 Psalm and paid a beautiful tribute to the departed one. In part he said, We loved him, everybody did, even the little children. Many testimonies were phoned in to me from the country one living several miles away said, not a better man in Belding, we are all sad. If every friend should bring just one flower, their would be a bank of flowers. He had some of the rarest qualities. He could take unkind words seemingly without losing a grain of love for the one who gave them.
