Mrs. Peckham had been a resident of Lake Odessa in the home of F. W. Smelker, her son-in-law, for most of the time of two years. She was the widow of Dr. Peckham of Freeport. After his death she came to this place where she made many friends. For many years she practiced dressmaking. She was a loyal member of the local Methodist church and of the Rebekahs. She was a psst noble grand of the latter institution, doing her work at Freeport. Mrs. Peckham was born in Mansfield, Ohio in 1859 and came to Freeport 61 years ago where she was admired for her retiring, modest, yet capable ways. She often furnished committed readings on programs. The funeral was held at the Wallace home in Hastings and at the Methodist church in Lake Odessa Monday afternoon, with the minister Rev. Leon W. Manning officiating and Mrs. Thomas Johnson, Mrs. Ena Armstrong and Mrs. William C. McCartney furnishing the music. Burial was at Lakeside.
