Ionia Daily Sentinel Standard, 17 May 1961

Funeral service was held at St. Patricks Catholic church in Portland Tuesday
morning for Mrs. Ruth M. Peckins, 55, of 230 Grant street, who died May 13 at
the Meitler Home.  

Mrs. Peckins was a graduate of Lake Odessa high school and after attending
Central Michigan college, taught school at Lake Odessa eight years.  In 1931,
she married Edward Peckins of Lyons, moving to Portland in 1936.  She was an
active member of the Township Library board and a member of the Altar society of
St. Patricks Roman Catholic church.

Rosary was recited Monday evening at the funeral home.  The Rt. Rev. Msgr. Louis
Flohe of Portland officiated and burial was at Portland cemetery.  Bearers were
Laban Smith, Morris Shattuck, Larry Bower, Joseph Meekhof, William Spitzley,
Sr., and Lewis Rowe.
