Peer, 73, died Friday afternoon at 4:30 o’clock at his home in Portland, Oregon. Death was due to a heart attack. He was born in Berlin township in 1869 and in 1885 was connected with the dry goods firm of Stone and Carten. In 1892 he and M.E. Simpson formed a partnership in Ionia where the Smith and Smith drug store is now located. He sold out in 1899 and in 1901 he and Orin Stone formed a partnership known as W.C. Peer & Company. This was later sold out to the Carten store. About 1905, he moved west to Portland where he had spent the remainder of his life. In 1892 he married Miss Jessie Stone who died in 1902. Later, he married Miss Louise Welch of Ionia, who survives him. Also surviving him are two children, Mrs. Max Flemming of Portland, Oregon and Russell Peer, of the state of Washington; four grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at the home and burial will be in Lincoln Memorial cemetery.
