The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Monday, June 10, 1985


George E. Pemberton, 76, of 7165 Bluewater Highway, Saranac, former South 
Ionia resident, died Saturday at Metropolitan Hospital, Grand Rapids.  He was 
born February 12, 1909, in Farwell, the son of George and Emma Green 
Pemberton.  He was employed as a welder for Fisher Body, REO and Lansing Co., 
all in Lansing.  He was married November 22, 1939 in Saranac to Gladys 
Leiter.  She died September 3, 1982.

Surviving are a son, Larry, of Saranac, three daughters, Sandra Van Over and 
Mazie Patten, both of Ionia, and Jena Newcombe of Palo; 15 grandchildren, six 
great grandchildren; a sister, Gladys Reed of California; two half-brothers, 
Bill Pemberton of Indiana and John Pemberton of California; and a half sister, 
Jean, of Ohio.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. from the Roetman Funeral Home.  
Burial will be in Saranac Cemetery.  The family will be at the funeral home 
Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
