Portland Observer – Thursday, 4 January 1934
Albert Penfield, aged 63 years, former well known and highly respected 
resident of Portland, passed away Wednesday forenoon at 10 o’clock, at his 
home at Battle Creek following a several month’s illness from Bright’s 
disease.  The remains will be brought here for burial and the funeral held 
from the residence of his son, Clarence, Saturday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock, 
in charge of Rev. Bancroft.

Mr.  Penfield left here 12 years ago and had since been residing at Battle 
Creek.  Besides the widow he is survived by the following children:  Mrs. Jess 
Hathaway of Detroit, Mrs. George Fox, Robert and Miss Clarissa of Battle 
Creek, Clarence and Mrs. Tony Pitch of Portland.
