Martha Louise (Shellenbarger) Pennington, aged 90, of Lake Odessa, passed away 
on Sunday evening, Dec. 7, 2008.

Louise was born in Lake Odessa on Dec, 8, 1917 to Elmer and Laura 9Black) 
Shellenbarger. He attended Lake Odessa Schools and graduated in 1935. Louise 
married Lester and graduated in 1935. Louise married Lester Pennington on April 
24, 1937. Together they raised three boys and four girls.

She is survived by her children, Vaughn Pennington, Martha Kidder, Lonnie 
(Linda) Pennington, Joan (Alvin) Warren, Elaine (Joseph) Gorodenski nd Lynn 
(Eilene) Pennington; her sisers, Leonore Pierce, Janet Mouser and Lucy (Ray) 
Foust; sister-in-law, June Shellenbarger, and many nieces and nephews. Louise 
is also survived by 30 children; 73 great grandchildren and 10 great-great-
grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by Lester Pennington, her husband of 59 years; a 
daughter and son-in-law, Karon and Cecil Strimback; daughter-in-law, Bonnie 
Pennington; brother, Donald Shellenbarger, 5 grandchildren and 1 great-
grandchild.

Visitation will be held at the Koops Funeral Chapel in Lake Odessa on Thursday, 
Dec. 11 from 1-3 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. The funeral and committal service will be 
held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 12, at Lakewood United Methodist Church. Burial 
will be in lakeside Cemetery. The family has suggested that memorial 
contributions may be made to Manna’s Market.
