Bennett lib@dogsbark.com April 17, 2010, 11:47 pm Lyons Herald PENNINGTON, NANCY (DOUGHERTY): THE LYONS HERALD, MI, May 13, 1909, p 4: "Mrs. Nancy Dougherty Pennington died at her home in Lyons May 7, 1909. The deceased was born in Cayuga county, New York, and came to Lyons when about 18 years of age. She was married to Wm. D. Pennington March 25, 1858. There were four children, all sons, born to this union, Charles, William, Adelbert and Louis, all of whom excepting William died in infancy, he dying at Fort Townsend in early manhood. Her husband died April 19, 1902. The loss of her family was a severe blow, from which she never fully recovered. Deceased joined the M. E. Church in her early womanhood and ever remained a consistent and devoted member. For several years she had been a patient and suffering invalid, confined to the limits of her own home. She leaves one sister, Mrs. Mary Welch, and one brother, John R. Dougherty, and one grandson, John Pennington, to mourn her loss. The funeral was held from the home Sunday afternoon, Rev. Wm. Judd officiating. The music was by Messrs Hale and Balch and Mesdames Bradt and Hawley. Simon Town of Muir read an obituary of deceased. The following were the pall-bearers: H. A. Ranger, H. M. Willitt, Leroy Spencer and Frank T. Gleason. Interment in Lyons cemetery."
