Pennock, 92, passed away Sunday, December 28, 2014. He was born to Wilbur and Olive (Erb) Pennock in Hickory Corners, Michigan. He was raised on the farm until joining the U.S. Navy in 1939. He retired from active duty in 1960 and was then retired from fleet reserve in 1970. As was the case for many veterans of this era, he rarely spoke of his experiences during his many years at sea. He farmed in Ionia county while also being employed by E.W. Bliss of Hastings, Michigan until retiring. He enjoyed fishing, leather work, stamp collecting, and lively opinions on the state of our government. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Jeannette; both parents; brother Plynn Pennock; and brother-in-law Marvin Porritt. He is survived by his children Dan Pennock, Cathy (Gary) Emelander, and Ed (Mindy) Pennock; grandchildren; sister Gloria Porritt; nieces; and relatives on the Erb family side. Burial arrangements by Lake Funeral Home, with Loree being laid to rest at North-Pennock Cemetery in Hickory Corners, Michigan, on Friday January 2nd, 2015.
