With only a half acre cleared around the cabin in the standing green pine and a half mile from the nearest neighbor, Mr. Peoples spent the most of his life in the county in which he was born until failing health made it necessary for him to make his home with his son Eric, at Ionia about 12 years ago. February 14th, 1900, he was united in marriage to Miss Dula Giles of Edmore, Mich. To this union were born four sons of which three grew to manhood. He departed this life at the Ionia hospital Nov. 23rd, 1944. The funeral was held at the Carson City Congregational church at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 26th, 1944. Rev. Edward Humphrey of Saranac, a former pastor at Carson City, officiating. Mr. Peoples leaves to mourn his passing, his three sons, Eric, Cleon and Cleo and their families, all of Ionia County; one brother, Mr. Emory Peoples and one sister, Mrs. John Lulham, of Carson City. Two nieces at Lowell and one nephew of Carson City, a number of cousins and a host of friends. He was a kind and loving father and brother and will be deeply mourned by those he left. Burial was made in the Carson City cemetery beside his wife who preceded him in death in 1926.
