Aug. 3, 2013 LAKE ODESSA, MI- Rodney A. Pepper, age 58, of Lake Odessa, was welcomed into the loving arms of Jesus on Sunday, July 28, 2013 after a long-fought battle with cancer. Born July 13, 1955, Rod was the oldest child of Roger and Barbara (Robson) Pepper. He was raised in the Clarksville area and in 1973 he graduated from Lakewood High School. Rod married his best friend and love of his life, Susan E. Offley on October 18, 1975. Together they were blessed with three wonderful sons, Ryan (Jen) Pepper, Blake Pepper, Brandon(Amy) Pepper along with two beautiful grandchildren, Blake's daughter, Lillian Mae Pepper, Brandon and Amy's son, Jackson Wayne Pepper. Lilly and Jackson will always remain the light of "Gramps" and "Bampa's" life. Rod was currently employed at Plastic Plate LLC a Division of Lacks Enterprises in Grand Rapids, where he worked with a team of many supportive and compassionate individuals. He was a fifteen year member of the Woodland Township Fire Department and an active member of the Lakewood United Methodist Church. Rod enjoyed spending time with his family, golfing, bowling and fishing off the dock at Jordan Lake. coaching the Annual Labor Day softball game between the Woodland and Lake Odessa Fire Departments also brought Rod much joy. Rod will be forever remembered for his great sense of humor and boisterous laugh. He lived his life surrounded by an incredible fun loving and exceptional group of family and friends through which his memory will live on. Rod is also survived by his brothers, Steven (Geri) Pepper and Dennis (Melinda) Pepper ; father-in-law, Wayne "Ted" (Joyce) Offley; sister-in-law, Nancy (Bob Donovan) Parker; brother-in-law Bob (Donna) Offley; brother-in-law Tim (Donna) Dickinson; grandmother, Alice E. Burroughs; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceding Rod in death were his parents, Roger and Barbara Pepper; mother-in- law, Janet Offley and sister-in-law, Mary Beth Dickinson. Funeral services were held Thursday, Aug. 1, 2013 at the Lakewood United Methodist Church, 10121 Brown Rd., Lake Odessa, MI 48849. Interment took place at Woodland Memorial Park immediately following the service. Memorials may be given to either the Woodland Township Fire Department or Lakewood United Methodist Church.
