Her family, though saddened by their loss is also rejoicing knowing Barbara is in the arms of her Savior, and reunited with her husband, Roger E. Pepper, who preceded her in death in April of 1988. Barbara and Roger were married October 23, 1954 in Saranac, and established their home in Clarksville. Barbara was employed by Lakewood Public Schools for over 30 years. She worked as the librarian at the Clarksville Elementary School, until moving into the school’s secretary’s seat until her retirement. She continued to volunteer at the elementary school through her illness. She often commented that the staff at Clarksville Elementary was her second family. Barbara was a lifelong member of the Saranac Community Church where she felt much love and support from the congregations. Barbara will be missed and remembered by her sons and their families, Rodney and Susan Pepper of Lake Odessa, and their children, Ryan (Jennifer), Brandon (Amy), Blake (Ashley) and great granddaughter, Lilly; Steven and Geri Pepper of Farmington Hills, and their children, Charlie and Amanda; and Dennis and Melinda Pepper of Clarksville, and their children, Jodi and Casey. She is also survived by her sisters, Elaine and Paul Young, and Nancy and Roger Heffelbower; brother, Ron and Nikki Robson; her in-laws, Leo and Wanda Pepper, Joyce and Carroll Eckman, and Terry and Irene Pepper; and many nieces, nephews, and special friends. The memorial service honoring Barbara will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 15, 2007 at the Saranac Community Church (125 S. Bridge St.). The family will receive relatives and friends at the church beginning at 1 p.m. on Sunday and continuing until the time of service. Memorial contributions can be made in Barbara’s name to the Clarksville Elementary School’s Library, where she enjoyed many hours of reading to the children.
